What is the story of this photo? How was he killed?
(One of Khodanoor’s relatives' recounts) – This published photo showing him in handcuffs is old. Khodanoor quarreled with the son of a Basiji. This family obtained an arrest warrant to arrest him because of their link with the regime. He was harrassed by police officers and then publish his handcuffed photo to humiliate him. “they put out the light from two o’clock in the evening until seven o’clock in the morning and beat him tied to the mast. Khudanoor had asked for water, and the officer had brought a glass of water and placed it at a distance so he could see the water but could not take it”.
His story deserves to be told. Khodanoor loved to dance as seen on his Instagram, where he shared photos of his daily life, dancing, and singing.
In his lifetime, Khodanoor Lajai experienced various oppressions. “Ethnic oppression due to being Baloch, Sunni, marginalized, not having a birth certificate, not having material capital.”

Ice sculpture of Khodanoor in front of the Chicago Art Institute.
The ice sculpture of Khodanoor Lajai was inspired by the injustice Khodanoor experienced before his death. It also symbolizes the pain and injustice Iranians in Iran have experienced for the past two months and continue to experience.
